Condoms in Porn mandatory in Los Angeles: threat to free expression

Condoms in Porn seem sensible, until one analyzes the dangers of lumber jacks, of car racing, downhill skiing, professional soldering in war zones. And the dangers of legal unprotected sex with partners that, unlike in porn, are not regularly tested for AIDS and STD.

So this looks like one more attack on sexuality and freedom, by feminist and religious zealots. Porn, after all, is an important element to reduce violence and crime against women and children by allowing men to reduce their sexual tension before it gets too strong (Milton Diamond)

We are totally in favor of condom use, to protect against STD and … oops, pregnancy accidents. But it should not be mandatory. Same as bicycle helmets: We use them, their use should be encouraged, but not mandatory.

Condoms in porn: a threat to freedom of expression

Picture the following scene. You and your partner are a pair of rather unabashed exhibitionists. You spend your weekends producing home videos that you upload to an amateur-porn site for money. In the middle of a passionate scene your bedroom door is opened. A health-and-safety inspector with a clipboard strolls in and begins inspecting your partner’s appendage. He notes that your partner is not wearing a condom. Because of this, he says, you face civil or criminal charges under the County of Los Angeles Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act. You attest to your clean bill of health and your partner’s consent, ‘but alas’, the inspector replies, ‘crucially you are without a condom’.

  1. This is incredibly stupid. Film is all about visuals, and condoms make the penis look stupid. Condoms are also a huge turn off to wear, I find that I can have sex for sometimes 6 hours straight but wearing condoms sometimes I find after 45 minutes my member wants to have no more of it and wants to get put away.

There is nothing wrong with condoms, they are a necessary evil and they quite effectively prevent pregnancy and STD transmission.

Condoms also prevent the whole problem with I-wanted-a-baby-so-I-defrauded-you-into-parenthood-by-lying-about-my-birth-control which somehow ironically is rape if the man insists on unprotected sex but if the woman lies about birth control and gets pregnant she can claim that if he didnt want to be a parent he should have abstained.

I’ve seen porn with condoms. Its lame.
